Your first expedition

  1. Open the Daily expedition or choose a subject from the game’s theme menu.
  2. Choose Begin expedition. Read the whole question during the three-second preview.
  3. Type one answer after the answer window opens, then press Enter or Submit. Check the question’s restrictions before choosing a less obvious answer.
  4. An accepted answer locks the round and reveals its points. Continue through all seven questions to see your total.

A round can be worth up to 100 points, so the highest expedition total is 700. The game uses preset answer values, rather than a live vote on what other people know.

When an answer is not recognized

An answer can sound right and still fall outside the question’s dates, region or category. It can also be missing from the accepted list. If the game cannot confirm your answer, read the feedback and try another while time remains. Your clock keeps running.

Use a clear name or word rather than a sentence explaining your reasoning. Known spelling variants and aliases are accepted where they have been added to the question. This does not mean that every typo or translation is supported.

A missed, skipped or expired round adds zero points. Once an answer is accepted, you cannot replace it with a different answer to improve that round’s score. Report a possible missing answer through Contact, including the exact question and what you entered.

Choose a way to play

Daily and themed expeditions
Play the scheduled questions for the day, either across subjects or within a theme. Daily schedules change at 00:00 UTC. The corresponding local time depends on your timezone.
Practice
After finishing an official daily expedition, replay it for practice. A practice run does not replace the completed daily result.
Endless
Open Endless for another seven-question set drawn from eligible released content. The game uses this browser’s question history to reduce repeats; a fresh browser, a limited pool or exhausted content can affect what is available.
Duel
Create a private Duel and send its room link or code to one other player. Both players must be ready to start. Each round uses the same question and a shared three-second preview and twenty-second deadline. Results reveal after both players lock an answer or time runs out. Both players then choose to continue. Highest total after seven rounds wins; equal totals are a draw. Leaving a started match forfeits it.

Return to a game

Progress belongs to an anonymous browser identity. Return in the same browser with its cookies and site storage available to resume an available session. A refresh does not reset a live round’s deadline. Closing a tab does not pause the clock.

There are no player accounts or automatic transfers between devices. Clearing browser data may disconnect you from saved progress; it does not itself erase the server records. A private Duel room link can be shared with others, so treat it as an invitation and keep it between the two players.

For the storage and retention details, read Privacy. For the six finds and how to choose an answer under pressure, read the scoring guide.

A quick practice exercise

Imagine a teaching question that says: “Name one of the following colours: red, blue or green.” This is an invented example, not a live RareDelve question.

“Blue” fits. “Yellow” does not, even though it is a colour. “A colour in the rainbow” describes a category but does not name an answer. The useful habit is to check the exact boundary before looking for an unusual response.

What should you do before submitting?

Choose one of the three listed colours and enter its name. In a real round, apply the same check to every constraint: entity type, place, date and any exclusions.
